Safety & Clinic Checks
10 QuestionsHow should I verify the clinic that will actually treat me?
Ask for the name and address of the treating clinic and the responsible clinician before travelling. If licensing, professional registration or accreditation matters to your decision, verify the specific provider with the relevant official authority. General marketing language is not a substitute for checking the selected clinic.
Who decides which implant system is used?
Türkiye BioHealth does not select the implant system. The treating clinic considers the bone, prosthetic goal, component compatibility and other clinical factors. The product line and relevant components should be documented in the individual treatment plan.
How can I check material information?
Ask why a particular material is recommended for your case, what alternatives exist and which components will actually be used. If product or conformity information is important to you, request the relevant manufacturer or official documentation. Marketing terms alone do not establish suitability for an individual patient.
Can the outcome of implant treatment be promised in advance?
No. Individual outcomes depend on factors such as general health, bone and gum conditions, smoking, oral hygiene, loading, the treatment protocol and follow-up care. Ask the treating clinic to explain the risks and alternatives that are relevant to your own case.
How should I assess warranty or rework terms?
If a clinic offers warranty or rework terms, the scope, exclusions, required check-ups and process for handling a problem should be recorded in writing. Do not assume that travel, hotel or repeat-treatment costs are included unless this is expressly documented. The written terms of the treating clinic are what matter.
Who decides whether sedation or anaesthesia is suitable?
The responsible medical team decides whether sedation or anaesthesia is appropriate after reviewing the planned procedure and your medical history. Provide a complete list of medication, allergies and relevant conditions. Medication should only be changed or paused on professional advice.
Is CBCT imaging always required before implants?
The treating clinic decides which imaging is necessary for the clinical question. Existing scans can be useful but may be considered insufficient or outdated. If new imaging is requested, you can ask why it is needed for the planned procedure.
Can I seek a second opinion before extensive treatment?
Yes. An independent second opinion can be useful for extensive, irreversible or differently treatable findings. For a meaningful comparison, provide the same available images, findings and health information to each clinician.
What is Türkiye BioHealth's role in a medical emergency?
Türkiye BioHealth is a coordination service, not an emergency medical provider. Severe bleeding, breathing problems, rapidly increasing swelling or other acute symptoms require immediate local medical attention. Organisational communication can be supported, but medical care is provided by a healthcare professional or emergency service.
Can health information be shared with the treating clinic?
Information required to review a treatment request may need to be sent to the relevant clinician or selected clinic. Health information requires appropriate safeguards and a valid legal basis or consent. The current privacy notice describes the applicable handling in more detail.
Process & Organisation
10 QuestionsHow do I start a treatment request?
You can send dental photos, a short description of the problem and, if available, recent X-rays through the provided contact channels. Türkiye BioHealth structures the request and forwards it for review by a suitable clinician. This initial review is not a final diagnosis or treatment approval.
Are photos and an X-ray enough for final planning?
Not always. They can support an initial assessment, but the treating clinic may require additional imaging, tests or an in-person examination. A final decision should follow completion of the clinically necessary assessment.
How quickly will I receive a response?
A fixed response time is not promised. Timing depends on whether the submitted information is complete, the complexity of the case and when the treating clinic can review it. Missing information may lead to a follow-up request first.
How long does dental treatment in Istanbul take?
There is no responsible single duration for every patient. The schedule depends on the procedure, healing, laboratory stages, additional treatment and clinical findings. Ask the treating clinic to confirm the case-specific treatment schedule in writing before travel.
How many trips to Istanbul might be required?
The number of trips depends on the individual treatment plan. Implant surgery, a healing phase and final prosthetic treatment can require separate visits. The treating clinic should explain the planned phases and expected visits before travel is booked.
Can the treatment plan change after examination in Istanbul?
Yes. An examination or new imaging can reveal findings that were not visible during remote review. If the plan changes materially, the reason, alternatives, additional risks and costs should be explained. Additional treatment should proceed only after appropriate information and consent.
When should I book flights and other travel?
It is sensible to have the clinical appointment and preliminary schedule confirmed first. Flight schedules, entry requirements and travel rules can change and should be checked with official sources before booking and travel. Flexible booking conditions can be useful for medical travel.
How are hotel and transfer services organised?
If requested, these services can be arranged separately from medical treatment and confirmed subject to availability. Check dates, location, room conditions and transfer scope in writing before booking. Travel services are not clinical care and do not imply any treatment outcome.
How is follow-up planned after I return home?
The treating clinic determines the type and timing of follow-up for the procedure performed. Ask whether and when a dentist at home should be involved and which records should be shared. Remote communication cannot replace an examination when symptoms require direct clinical assessment.
Which records should I request after treatment?
Useful records can include the written treatment plan, invoices, relevant material or component details, available imaging and aftercare instructions. These can support later check-ups or a second opinion. Ask the clinic for copies before leaving.
Comparison & Alternatives
10 QuestionsHow should I compare treatment in Turkey with treatment at home?
Compare the same clinical scope rather than headline prices. Include diagnosis, planned procedures, components, temporary work, follow-up, travel, time away and how complications would be managed. A written plan from each provider makes the comparison more meaningful.
Does a lower price prove that treatment quality is lower?
Price alone does not establish clinical quality. Provider experience, diagnosis, treatment planning, materials, infection control, communication and follow-up all matter. Verify the actual clinic and clinician rather than making assumptions based only on the country or price.
Does a higher price prove that treatment quality is better?
No. A higher price can reflect many factors and does not by itself prove a better clinical result. Compare the proposed treatment, clinician qualifications, documentation, alternatives and follow-up arrangements.
Should I choose an implant brand before the clinician reviews my case?
Usually not. The treating clinician should first assess the clinical and prosthetic requirements. If you have preferences, discuss them and ask for the selected system and components to be documented in the plan.
Is an implant always better than a bridge?
No. The decision depends on the missing tooth, neighbouring teeth, bone, gum health, bite, medical factors and patient preferences. A bridge can be appropriate in some cases and an implant in others. The treating dentist should explain the advantages, disadvantages and expected maintenance of each option.
Are veneers always preferable to crowns for cosmetic treatment?
No. Veneers and crowns have different indications and involve different amounts of tooth preparation. Healthy tooth structure should not be removed solely because one option is marketed as a standard smile package. The treating dentist should justify the proposed restoration for each tooth.
Should I compare only the first treatment visit?
No. Include healing stages, later prosthetic work, review appointments, maintenance and the practical plan if a problem develops after returning home. The complete pathway can matter more than the first appointment.
Can treatment abroad still be appropriate for a small case?
It can be, but travel time, follow-up access and personal preferences should be weighed alongside the clinical plan and price. For a small procedure, the practical advantages of treatment near home can be important.
How should I compare treatment timelines from different clinics?
Ask what each stage represents clinically and whether healing or laboratory steps are being compressed. A shorter schedule is not automatically better. The treating clinician should explain why the proposed timing is appropriate for the specific case.
Can an online comparison replace a clinical second opinion?
No. Online information can help you prepare questions, but it cannot assess your individual mouth or medical history. For significant treatment decisions, a clinician who has reviewed the relevant records and findings should provide the medical opinion.
Treatments & Materials
10 QuestionsWhat is All-on-4?
All-on-4 describes a full-arch prosthetic concept supported by four implants. Whether this concept is suitable depends on bone, anatomy, bite, prosthetic requirements and general health. The treating clinic determines implant positions, prosthetic design and loading protocol after examination.
What is All-on-6?
All-on-6 is a full-arch concept using six implants. More implants do not automatically make it the right option for every patient. Bone availability, anatomy, prosthetic design, hygiene access and treatment goals all need individual assessment.
How long can veneers last?
There is no fixed lifespan that can be promised for every veneer. Longevity depends on material, preparation, bonding, bite, grinding, oral hygiene and maintenance. Ask the treating dentist about the expected maintenance and replacement considerations for the chosen restoration.
How long can dental implants last?
No implant can be promised to last for a specific period in every patient. Long-term performance depends on health, bone and gum conditions, hygiene, smoking, loading, prosthetic design and follow-up. The implant and the prosthetic components above it may have different maintenance needs.
What is the difference between zirconia and glass-ceramic restorations?
They have different mechanical and optical properties and are used for different clinical situations. Material selection depends on tooth position, remaining tooth structure, bite, restoration type and aesthetic goals. The treating dentist and dental laboratory should select the material for the individual case.
Can an implant be placed immediately after extraction?
Sometimes, but not in every case. The decision depends on socket anatomy, infection, bone, soft tissue, primary stability and the prosthetic plan. The treating surgeon should explain whether immediate placement is appropriate and what alternatives exist.
What is bone grafting?
Bone grafting is used when additional bone volume is considered necessary for a planned treatment. The technique and material depend on the defect and treatment goal. Healing and timing are decided by the treating surgeon for the individual case.
Can implants receive a temporary restoration soon after placement?
In selected cases, a temporary restoration may be possible after implant placement. This depends on implant stability, bone, bite, prosthetic design and the clinician's protocol. Immediate loading should not be assumed before the case has been assessed.
What is digital smile planning?
Digital tools can help visualise restorative ideas and support communication between patient, dentist and laboratory. A simulation is not a promise of the final biological or aesthetic result. Clinical suitability and tooth preparation still require examination and informed consent.
Can older crowns or bridges be replaced?
They can sometimes be replaced, but the supporting teeth, gums, bite and any hidden decay or fracture need assessment first. Removal of an existing restoration can reveal findings that change the plan. The treating dentist should explain the options after evaluation.
Risks & Decision-Making
10 QuestionsWhat are the main practical risks of dental travel?
Relevant considerations include distance from the treating clinic after returning home, travel after a procedure, communication, access to records and the process if follow-up treatment is needed. Medical risks depend on the actual procedure and individual health. Both should be discussed before booking.
How can I reduce avoidable risks before treatment?
Provide complete medical information, submit useful dental records, verify the treating clinic, ask for a written plan and make sure you understand alternatives and follow-up. Do not change medication without professional advice and do not accept additional procedures without adequate explanation.
Which health conditions should I disclose?
Tell the treating clinic about relevant medical conditions, allergies, previous operations, bleeding problems and all medication or supplements you use. The clinical team decides which information affects dental treatment and whether additional medical clearance is needed.
How does smoking affect treatment planning?
Smoking can be relevant to healing, gum health and implant treatment. The treating clinician should assess the individual risk and explain any recommendations around treatment. Do not rely on a generic statement in place of case-specific advice.
What should I do if I develop increasing swelling or severe pain after treatment?
Contact the treating clinic and seek direct local dental or medical assessment when symptoms are severe, worsening or accompanied by other concerning signs. Remote messaging may help coordinate information but should not delay necessary in-person care.
Can a treatment plan be refused or changed?
You can ask questions, request alternatives and decide whether to consent to the proposed treatment. If the plan changes after new findings, ask for the updated reason, risks, alternatives and costs before agreeing.
Why is informed consent important for irreversible treatment?
Procedures such as tooth preparation, extraction or surgery can be irreversible. You should understand the indication, alternatives, material choices, important risks and expected follow-up before consenting. Written information supports but does not replace a discussion with the treating clinician.
What should I know about aftercare once I am back home?
Ask the treating clinic which symptoms are expected, which require urgent assessment and when routine reviews are due. Keep the treatment records available for your local dentist. Some problems require direct examination rather than photographs or messages.
What should I check before paying a deposit?
Confirm who is providing the treatment, what the deposit covers, cancellation terms, the provisional clinical scope and which travel services are separate. Keep copies of the written terms and payment records.
Who makes the final medical decision about treatment?
The treating dentist or clinic makes the medical assessment and treatment decision with the patient after appropriate examination and consent. Türkiye BioHealth can coordinate information and appointments but does not replace the treating clinician's diagnosis or responsibility.
